The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 is set to kick off with defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing two-time winners Islamabad United at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
This season will feature a total of 34 matches, including three playoffs and a final, involving six competing teams in Pakistan’s premier T20 cricket league. The PSL 2024 final is scheduled to take place at Karachi’s National Stadium on March 18, and all matches will be available for live streaming in India.
In the league stage, each team will play 10 matches in a double round-robin format. The top two teams on the points table will compete in the qualifier, with the winner securing a spot in the final.
The third and fourth-placed teams will face off in the first eliminator, and the winner of that match will play against the losing team from the qualifier for a chance to enter the summit clash.
Last year, Lahore Qalandars, led by Pakistani speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi, clinched their second consecutive title by defeating Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans by just one run in a thrilling final.
Notably, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars are the most successful teams in the PSL, each boasting two titles. Meanwhile, Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators have each secured the title once.
After the conclusion of PSL 2024, Pakistani cricketers will gear up for a four-match T20 series in England followed by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA in June
